What do you want for Christmas?

My kids are in the middle of a time-honored tradition of making their Christmas lists.  They start at Thanksgiving and make a long list with everything imaginable on it.  They draw pictures and everything to make sure Santa will understand exactly what it is they want.  Over the next few weeks they spend time going over the list again and again and, because they know they will not get EVERYTHING they want, they mark out things that they are not quite as excited about.  Sometimes they even think of something else they would rather have than any of the other stuff and they add that.  Every year Christmas is magical and they get what they wanted the most – and a few extras thrown in.
Your lawyer internet marketing pay per click campaign is much the same.  In order to get the most satisfying results from your attorney marketing, you may start with a list of the kinds of cases you want that is very extensive.  We encourage you to take some time and go through that list and focus in on the kinds of cases you are the most interested in getting.  Attorney Internet Marketing is a fluid process.  What works in one area or for one firm may not work for another.  The geographic areas & the practice areas make a difference in lawyer internet advertising.  We can do your law firm website design to fit your specifics as well.  Call us today and let us help you “make your list” for what you most wish for from your attorney advertising.  We want to get you everything you want – with a few extras thrown in!

St. Thomas Yacht Racing and Law Firm Marketing?

I recently returned from a wonderful vacation to the Caribbean.  One of the most fun things that I have ever done was to go yacht racing with OnDeck Ocean Racing in St. Thomas, USVI.  My fiancé and I actually pulled the ropes, shifted weight, waited for the wind changes, and raced against another yacht.  It was definitely one of those “once-in-a-lifetime” experiences and one that I would recommend to every person I meet.  After the race, we went inside to talk to the owners and to rave about what a fabulous time that we had.  After chit chatting for awhile, we got around to what my profession is and I explained that I do law firm marketing.  She asked me if I could give her any tips on marketing her own company.  And, boy do I!

The truth of the matter is that marketing is marketing.  It doesn’t matter what your product is, we all generally market in the same way.  While there are a myriad ways of approaching attorney marketing, I put a lot of faith in the Internet.  And, if there is one thing that law firm internet marketing has taught me, it is that the Internet provides global appeal.  Pay-per-click marketing guarantees your placement in the search engines while Search Engine Optimization works to increase your rankings in the natural listings.  Neither of these things is overly complicated, but they do take time and effort.  My second recommendation was to start a BLOG.  Tell the world what is new with your company (or law firm); it doesn’t have to be a thesis, just a paragraph about what is new.  The more you talk and get your name out there, the better for your firm.

So, while my specialty may be working with lawyer marketing, the strategies are pretty universal.  And using these for your firm could be what separates you from another law firm.

Greeting Cards (and Pay-Per-Click Ads) Not for Everyone

Terrye Cheathem, a criminal defense attorney in Los Angeles has recently placed a new line of greeting cards on the market. The target consumers are those that wish to send cards to their incarcerated friends or family. Captions include words of well-wishing such as “Sorry to hear about your arrest,” “Honestly, I never knew anyone who was arrested before,” and, for any occasion, “Not you!” As you might assume, the cards haven’t exactly been flying off the shelves. Whether it is because the thought of sending a card to an inmate seems a bit trite or because most people simply don’t ever think of doing it, it seems that the market is not one that will yield tremendous results. Apparently, Hallmark™ has a reason for not targeting this demographic.

Lawyer pay-per-click advertising bears certain similarities with the greeting card industry. You must target your ads to the right people and to those who are willing to spend money for your services if you want to have a chance at reaching new clients. Law firm internet advertising should be targeted to the clients that need what you offer. By using keywords that attract the right clients—those looking for your specialty—you have the best chance of getting the clients that can most benefit from your services.

Attorney website design is not a code that cannot be cracked and search engine optimization can be tailored much the same way for law firm web sites as for anything else. It is a matter of including the words that get the attention of those in whom you are interested.

Attorneys Online, Inc., is able to help you as you target your ads, your keywords, and your website to those whom you feel you are most able to help. Take a tip from the greeting card companies and don’t jump in accidentally to a market where you don’t belong.
