Do I Need A New Website for My Law Firm?
If you have a website for your law firm – congratulations – you have a great marketing tool in your legal marketing kit. But with every virtual tool, software program, or technological gizmo you need updates. Upgrades and improvements to your website are just as vital as having one to begin with. As your law firm evolves and improves your website should follow the same path of growth.
How do you know when it is time to get a website makeover? Ask yourself these questions, or maybe have someone else do it. (Denial & procrastination are close cousins that you don’t want to be associated with!)
- Does your law firm website look dated? Think of the show “I love the 80s” – the crazy haircuts, styles, and things that just belong in the past. Could your website get grouped into a particular decade…that is long gone?
- Is your law firm website user friendly? A good home page layout is key here. Can people find what they need quickly and is it enough to convince them to call you?
- Are you getting calls, emails or leads from your Internet Marketing efforts? If you know you are getting clicks from your Sponsored Search Account (that is hopefully set up with us!), but you are not getting any calls, could your website be the problem?
- Does your website accurately reflect what your law firm is about? Is your website missing current information about your firm? If you find yourself needing to do several website updates to get your website up to speed you may save more money by revamping your website instead of hourly billed updates.
- A new website is on your “honey-do” list…but it’s at the very very bottom! You’ve seen your website and you are not happy with it anymore but you just haven’t gotten around to getting it re-done.
If you, or your website helper, find that any of these questions, or problems, could apply to your website then contact our attorney marketing consultants today. At Attorneys Online, Inc. we specialize in law firm marketing; we would be happy to provide our expert recommendations. Be proud of your law firm website and keep it looking fresh!
Clear your cache to see updated law firm website design changes
This entry has an indirect correlation to law firm marketing in that it involves the attorney website design. Many of our clients send us changes that they would like made to their sites; this could be anything from adding a new attorney to correcting a grammatical error. Our turnaround time is pretty quick with these minor changes (obviously a website redesign would take much longer). So, once we receive a client request, we make the change on a preview link that the client must approve before it goes live. This ensures that the client is happy with the changes and that everything was done correctly before it is published for the world to see. Once the client approves the preview link, we launch the changes on the live website.
At least 50% of the time, I get a frantic email back from a client stating that the changes have not been made to the website. In reality, it has; however, the client needs to clear his/her cache in order to see it. Sometimes your Internet program holds on to old versions of a website or deposits cookies to mark where you have been. When this happens, you won’t be able to see the changes.
How do you fix this problem? It’s quite simple – really. Granted, these instructions are for Internet Explorer, but I would imagine that there are similar options for Firefox, etc. Open an Explorer window. On your menu bar, click on Tools and then Internet Options. You will have a section called Browsing History. Click on Delete. Go ahead and delete files and cookies. Hit OK then wait for the computer to delete the files. This could take several minutes if you never do this. Once it is complete, go to the site and see if you see the changes. More likely than not, you will.
Taking a Gamble with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers is holding its annual DUI seminar in Las Vegas next week; Attorneys Online will be there to exhibit our lawyer marketing strategies. (Besides, who could pass up a trip to Vegas?)
We have many criminal attorney clients now that focus their marketing efforts specifically on DUI. The internet has been a great tool to that end. Our Pay-Per-Click campaigns have been very effective because we know what days of the week get the best response and we make sure that our clients are well-placed on those days in particular. Optimization helps to get our clients listed better in the natural listings. But, if you are looking for more traditional means of advertising, Jail mail has worked very well for our clients.
If you are looking to expand your current marketing or try new strategies, please feel free to stop by our booth. If you can’t meet us in Vegas, please contact our attorney marketing consultants today to set up a free, brief consultation. You can also call the office at (800)221-8424.
