Attorneys Online takes on American Immigration Lawyers Assocation in Orlando
I have been to Florida a few times before. I remember the warm, beautiful oceans, Disney World, the Everglades, and more. What I forgot about was the heat and humidity, whew! Though I am a native Texan, I think my hair was bigger than it had ever been before!
But despite the heat, rain, and humidity, we had a great time at the American Immigration Lawyers Association conference in Orlando last week. We had especially good traffic on Wedesday and Thursday of the convention; by Friday and Saturday, there was just a trickle of attorneys (probably too many late nights or going to spend the days with the kids at DisneyWorld).
The attorneys were very nice and had a lot of questions about how to properly market themselves, their services, and their firms. There were parties every night with a wide variety of food and drinks. They even rented out the Beach Club on Pleasure Island! (As I understand it, Pleasure Island is part of Disney and it is a little area that has several bars and restaurants). The Beach Club had Beach Boys-type music in a 2 story bar/club with plenty of food (the mini-cannolis were great).
Overall, we enjoyed our time there and the hospitality of the AILA members. If you decide to go to Orlando, do NOT rent from Advantage Rental Cars. It was a disaster from start to finish – they were out of cars, then they found cars, but they weren’t clean, then they ran out of gas, then the car was given empty, then, 45 minutes, later, we were still waiting for a car. We did not get so much as an apology for the extreme delay – just rude responses. Their lack of customer service and the poor condition of the cars will definitely lead me to rent cars elsewhere.
