What’s a Brrreeeport?

So where have you been this past week? Let me get you up to speed on The Ultimate Keyword Experiment that resulted in the ultimate blogging keyword – “brrreeeport”. In an oh so creative and original experiment to debunk the A-list Blogger conspiracy and test out the search engines, on February 13th Microsoft’s controversial super geek, Robert Scoble, asked his readers to use the phony baloney word “brrreeeport” in their blogs. The objective was to get “Z-list” blogs noticed while testing the reach of search engines and at the same time stick it to Technorati’s prima donna Blogoshere. What happened literally made Blog history and peeked under the search engines’ skirts!

Technorati returned 487 results for the fictitious word, pointing searchers to Z-list blogs that otherwise may have never been found. It was placed in the #1 slot for most popular search, even out ranking Dick Cheney’s hunting accident. Oh, but wait until you hear the Rest of The Story! Within two day’s time “brrreeeport” hit Google with over 452 results! At one time Google claimed over 14,000 results and some report as many as 50,000 results where claimed by Google. Now here’s the thing (and the peek up the skirt), when Scoble actually scrolled through and counted the results, he came up with only 382 (hardly 50,000). He says that this is an example of the “lies that are going on on the search engines”. MSN returned 1,369 and Yahoo returned 1,010. After blushing and wiping the egg off of their faces, a few days later Google returned only 190 results for “brrreeeport”, with MSN returning 221, and Yahoo still returning 2,130. Gee, I know we can’t trust our politians, but come on, this is the search engines. Was this an honest mistake or were the results manipulated in some brrreeeport mysterious way?

More truthiness that this funky experiment also brings up is the importance of anchor text in blogs, the contextual text that hyperlinks to another page or another site. Robot’s love text based links….it’s a gourmet delight. And don’t forget the living beings who are reading your blog. Why just put “click here” or “for more info” in the text of your hyperlink? Let the reader know what to expect if he clicks on the hyperlink. Besides we know how the search engines feel about relevant text, so let’s not disappoint them. Remember, your Blog should always be maintained with marketing in mind so it can be found. Of course, if you want to increase your ranking for the keyword “click here”….go for it! But honestly, who’s searching for a click here??? Or for that matter why are there now keyword buys for “brrreeeport”? So, what’s a brrreeeport…..and why would I want one? The answer is it’s a kick ass keyword that every blog should have today……maybe not tomorrow, but today – it rocks!

Attorneys Online, Inc. Launches Law BLOGS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (February 14, 2006) – Attorneys Online, Inc is proud to announce the launch of Law Blogs, or BLOGs, for its client roster to facilitate the growing need for legal information gleaned from law firm websites. http://attorneysonlineinc.com/blogs.html In Attorneys Online’s efforts to keep its clients ahead of the marketing curve, it did thorough research into this new strategy. To date, law firm websites have been, for the most part, virtual brochures containing static and predominantly universal information about the individual law firm. Law BLOGs are changing all of that. Statistically, more than 66% of Internet users are looking for information on a particular legal issue when seeking out a lawyer’s website. They are not looking for advice – just practical legal information. The right content coupled with the proper presentation will help potential clients want to hire the firm.

According to Attorneys Online, Inc. CEO, Cheney Winslow, “This next generation of law firm websites will take our client’s marketing to the next level. BLOGs will help establish our all ready talented and renowned attorneys as authors and authorities in their particular areas of expertise by enabling them to voice comments, write articles, and share newsworthy observations syndicated through the World Wide Web.”

The marketing of the Attorneys Online, Inc. BLOGs includes linking them to over 120 blog search engines as well as the enabling of the RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feeds. The syndication network allows websites to incorporate their “syndicated” headlines or headlines and teaser information under many different usage agreements. The linking of the RSS feeds serves many important purposes that are valuable in the future of law firm marketing.

The fresh content that Attorneys Online, Inc. clients will provide, or the content that Attorneys Online staff of legal writers can write on our client’s behalf, will give potential clients a reason to return to our law firm websites as well as recommend it to others. The addition of a BLOG into your marketing mix is the future of websites, according to Bill Gates. The fresh content will help drive your website higher on the search engines, give potential clients a reason to return to the site, as well as instill trust in the law firm that provided it. The general pertinent law firm information will still be linked to your BLOG.

As The Premiere Attorney Business Development Company, Attorneys Online, Inc. prides itself on keeping its clients practices growing with creative and effective campaigns. Fresh Content Is King

Did you know that fresh content on your website improves Search Engine Optimization and improves your ranking in the “natural” listings? The major search engines (especially Google) not only rank pages upon relevant content, but by fresh content as well. What that means to you is that without fresh content your rankings in the natural listings will reach a certain level and then not go much higher and possibly even fall. Google sends out its “freshbot” spider to gather and index new material to all the sites that offer it. MSN Search’s spider will also pay regular visits to sites known to have proper fresh content. The same is true with all of the major search engines. To get to the top and stay there your site should deliver fresh, relevant content on a regular basis. By incorporating fresh content, your site will remain competitive.

Over the last few years we have seen the search engines give preference to websites who regularly update their content. Updating your site with rich articles, recent success stories or interesting commentary and then broadcasting this information to the Internet increases the inbound links to your site, also increases the frequency which major search engines will spider or crawl your site and improves your ranking in the search engines. If it’s all about ranking, then it’s all about fresh content!

The next step would be to promote your new content effectively and let us set up a 48-HOUR NAP account for you and keep your content fresh on the search engines by re-indexing it every 48 hours. This will keep your site’s new content fresh to the search engines’ databases day after day.

Attorneys Online now provides content for our clients, which is updated weekly in several different practice areas. Contact us for more information. (800) 221-8424
